Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday visited the Governor House Peshawar and held a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. The meeting focused on the overall law and order situation and security challenges in the province. During the meeting, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the Pakistan Cricket Board’s decision to hold Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Peshawar. He said that as Governor, he had raised the matter multiple times with the PCB and termed the decision a positive step for promoting sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He expressed hope that hosting PSL matches in the province this year would prove to be a significant initiative for youth engagement and normalcy. The Governor also expressed deep sorrow over the recent blast at an Islamabad Imambargah and urged the federal interior minister to ensure the early provision of financial assistance to the families of the martyrs. He further recommended a presidential award, Sitara-e-Shujaat, for martyr Syed Aun Abbas, who lost his life while trying to stop the suicide attacker. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the federal and provincial governments would work together to provide sports and employment opportunities to the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He reaffirmed the commitment of both governments to ensure lasting peace in the province and to eliminate terrorism through coordinated efforts.
