PESHAWAR: May 4, 2026:

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday said the people of the province were looking for a political alternative to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), adding that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would have to play its role as the true representative of the public. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of PPP Peshawar Division and its subsidiary organizations at the Governor House Peshawar. The meeting was also addressed by PPP KP President Muhammad Ali Bacha, former Speaker KP Assembly Kiramatullah Khan Chagharmatti, Senior Vice President Ayub Shah, Women Wing leader Asiya Jahangir, Divisional President Misbahuddin, Metropolitan President Umar Khittab, Syed Tahir Abbas, Peoples Students Federation leaders Hazrat Jamal, Hifzanullah Khan and Babar Fayyaz Khalil, Peoples Labour Wing President Shah Zulqarnain, Peoples Doctors Forum President Dr Janbaz Afridi, Peoples Lawyers Forum General Secretary Lajbar Khan, Nowshera district president Idrees Khattak, Khyber district president Dr Sher Shah Afridi and Mohmand leader Malik Sartaj Khan among others. Governor Kundi said PPP had greater political scope in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa than any other political party. He said the party had successfully organized a workers convention in Malakand despite heavy rains last month and expressed confidence that the May 8 convention would also prove successful. He said differences of opinion within the party were natural and acknowledged that complaints raised by subsidiary organizations were valid. He stressed the need to strengthen party organization and complete incomplete organizational structures. The Governor said Peoples Students Federation (PSF), Traders Wing, Minority Wing and all other wings should be made active and vibrant. He also directed that separate provincial-level conventions of lawyers and doctor's forums be organized. Kundi said Governor House was always open for party workers and added that he would continue to stand by them in times of joy and grief. He termed the governorship “a trust of the party.” He announced that conventions in Dera, Bannu and Malakand divisions would soon be organized. Referring to relief activities, Kundi said the Pakistan Red Crescent had always served suffering humanity in consultation with party workers and district presidents despite opposition from the provincial government and a slow response from the federation. He urged party leaders to strengthen each other instead of indulging in internal rivalries and called for running a vigorous campaign in the upcoming local government elections.Speaking on the occasion, PPP KP President Muhammad Ali Bacha said Governor House had always remained a center for party meetings and appreciated Governor Kundi for keeping its doors open to workers. He said the May 8 Youth and Workers Convention in Peshawar would be historic, adding that party workers active during difficult times were the party’s real asset.
