Governor Kundi stresses youth character-building through scouting
PESHAWAR, Sep 3, 2026:
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday said that the youth of the province were highly talented and along with education, character-building was equally important for their success.
He said scouting played a vital role in developing discipline, leadership skills and a spirit of service among young people.
The Governor expressed these views while addressing the concluding ceremony of a risk management training workshop organized for the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and UNICEF at Governor House.
The ceremony was attended by Provincial Secretary Pakistan Boy Scouts Association KP Iftikhar Shamozai, Executive Director NDMA Air Commodore (Retd) Tanveer Paracha, Acting Commissioner Pakistan Boy Scouts Association Hafiz Tariq Mahmood, Principal Pakistan Scouts Cadet College Batrasi Brigadier (Retd) Abdul Hafeez, representatives of UNICEF and scouts. The Governor also distributed certificates among the scouts who completed the training.
Governor Kundi said the training received by scouts would continue to guide them in practical life. He added that true leadership was about working for the resolution of collective issues rather than pursuing personal interests.
He appreciated the scouts for their discipline and leadership qualities, saying their participation in scouting reflected their commitment towards service, honesty, teamwork and humanity.
The Governor said the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association was playing an important role in preparing youth for successful practical lives. He added that the certificates awarded at the workshop were not only proof of completion of training but also a reminder of the responsibilities learned during the programme.
He said the youth were the valuable asset of the country and every possible support would be provided for their empowerment and encouragement. He added that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa faced natural disasters almost every month, making it essential to increase the number of trained volunteers at the district level.
Governor Kundi also lauded Principal Cadet College Batrasi Brigadier (Retd) Abdul Hafeez for putting the institution on the path of development and assured full cooperation for its further progress.
Acting Commissioner Pakistan Boy Scouts Association Hafiz Tariq Mahmood thanked the Governor for his support and said that so far 150 children had been provided risk management training, while a target had been set to train 3,000 boy scouts across the country.
He said the credit for the development of Cadet College Batrasi went to Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Principal Brigadier (Retd) Abdul Hafeez.
Air Commodore (Retd) Tanveer Paracha said under the federal government's policy, youth were being prepared to deal with natural disasters. He said NDMA was providing training to Boy Scouts and Girl Guides and modern equipment was also being utilized for the purpose.
He added that Pakistan was among the top four countries affected by climate change, therefore training youth and volunteers in disaster management was the need of the hour.
